Mecum Auctions Makes Its Return To H-Town April 4-6
In only its second year, Mecum’s Houston auction continues to generate increasing excitement as the consignment list consistently grows, now more than 30 percent larger than last year’s auction. This anticipated event sweeping the nation will bring in an excess of 1,000 vehicles to rock Houston’s Reliant Center for three full days of vigorous bidding and hard hammered sales this April 4-6.
Cars are coming from all corners of the country as well as from cities all over Texas to take part in the auction. More than 20 vehicles will roll in to Houston from cities to the northwest like Amarillo and Lubbock including a 1969 Shelby GT500 Convertible (Lot F253.1), one of only nine built. Cities just north including Fort Worth and Dallas are also filling the list with dozens of cars already consigned, and southern cities like Corpus Christi will join in the lineup with lots such as S125, a gorgeous Silver on Red ’65 Corvette Coupe.
Highlighting the Houston roster will be 25 consummate classics hailing from Austin in the Gerald Byrd Collection with everything from muscle machines to time-honored, luxury rides. Not to be outdone, more than 30 handpicked selections from the expansive and diverse group of vehicles in the Lynn Wardley Collection will also join the lineup. The assortment of cars will grace the stage on both Friday and Saturday riddled with ‘30s- and ‘40s-era custom street rods including several Ford’s in a range of models along with a variety of others.
Eighteen hours of the Houston auction will be broadcast live on Discovery’s Velocity Network with the entire auction streaming live on Mecum’s website at www.mecum.com. Mecum’s Houston auction is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. General admission can be purchased at the door for $20 per person; children 12 and younger will be admitted at no cost.
