Scottsdale, Ariz. – (August 12, 2013)Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, announced today that it generated more than $14.2 million in gross sales of rare, high-end collectible vehicles, exotics, customs, classics, hot rods and resto-mods, during its inaugural Hot August Nights Auction Presented by Barrett-Jackson held August 8-10, 2013 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center.

Overall attendance was strong with the inaugural event attracting nearly 40,000 car enthusiasts throughout the weekend. Classic and collector car fans enjoyed a week-long celebration of some of the rarest and most recognizable cars in the world, including a custom built 2013 Chevrolet Camaro COPO 2 Door Coupe (Lot #427) owned and built by Richard Rawlings, owner of Gas Monkey Garage in Dallas, TX and star of Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud. The car was sold on Friday for $137,500 and will be featured on an upcoming episode.

The top 5 sales were as follows:

  • Lot #3002 2014 Shelby GT500 Convertible – $500,000
  • Lot #719 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible – $192,000
  • Lot #702.1 1950 Jaguar XK 120 2 Door Roadster – $178,200
  • Lot #724 1968 Shelby GT500 E Continuation Fastback – $165,000
  • Lot #730 1957 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible – $148,500

Participants in the Downtown Reno Show-n-Shine were able to compete for a $40,000 prize purse with $20,000 going to the Ultimate Best of Show, along with the coveted Barrett-Jackson Cup™ and an LS3 Crate Engine donated by Chevrolet Performance. On Saturday August 10th, vehicle owner George Poteet from Collierville, Tenn, builder Troy Trepanier from Manteno, Ill., and Jack Trepanier, general manager of Rad Rides by Troy, were awarded the highly-regarded Cup for their custom 1969 Ford Torino by Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson, and Governor of Nevada, Brian Sandoval.

For the first time ever, Barrett-Jackson also offered three bonus broadcast hours on Saturday on FUEL TV, in addition to 16 hours of live coverage on SPEED, reaching the homes of millions of viewers. The Reno Tahoe auction marks SPEED’s last broadcast with Barrett-Jackson but the start of a new relationship with the FOX family of networks.

To enhance the planned successful inaugural lifestyle event, Barrett-Jackson partnered with the producers of the upcoming movie, Snake & Mongoose to showcase the iconic Hot Wheels Yellow and Red Haulers and the ‘Cuda and Duster Funny Cars raced by legendary https://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/womans-health/ drag racers Don “The Snake” Prudhomme and Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen. This display was the first time these cars had been together outside of California in 40 years and was the first of many stops during a U.S. tour, which will include a display at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas September 26-28, 2013, and ultimately leading up to the cars crossing the block at Barrett-Jackson’s monumental 43rd annual Scottsdale Auction January 12-16, 2014.

The producers of the movie also hosted a star-studded, red carpet premiere of the movie at the Century Sierra Summit in Reno. Don “the Snake” Prudhomme attended the premiere as well as other stars from the movie including Richard Blake who plays Tom “the Mongoose” McEwen, Gilligan Gibbons, Billy Gibbon’s wife, and Nikki Leigh, Playboy’s Miss May 2012.

Keeping in line with Barrett-Jackson’s philanthropic efforts, the auction house helped to raise $620,000 for national charitable organizations bringing the total amount raised to-date to more than $55.9 million. Two charitable vehicles were sold during the auction, including the first 2014 Cadillac CTS V-Sport 4 Door Sedan (Lot #3001), which sold on Friday for $120,000 and benefitted the SAE Foundation. Also sold was the last retail 2014 Ford Shelby GT500 Convertible (Lot #3002), which sold on Saturday and benefited the Brain Injury Association of America. This one of a kind vehicle sold for $500,000.
