RENO, Nev. – Aug 9, 2015 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®, once again delivered an action-packed auction during the 3rd Annual Hot August Nights Auction presented by Barrett-Jackson in Reno Tahoe, Nevada, Aug. 6-8.

Barrett-Jackson’s Reno Tahoe auction included the sale of 232 vehicles and over 400 collectible automobilia pieces totaling more than $9.5 million in sales (unaudited) at an astonishing 100 percent sell through rate. Barrett-Jackson also shattered automobilia records with a 36 percent increase in sales over 2014. Guests filled the auction arena peaking attendance at over 40,000 and surpassing the Reno-Tahoe record for single-day attendance on Friday. In addition, the eclectic docket of collector cars attracted the most bidders in the Hot August Night Auction’s three year history.

“In traditional Barrett-Jackson style we crushed records on every level during our Hot August Nights auction,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Not only did we have a 100 percent sell through rate with more than $9.5 million in sales, but our attendance was up, shattering our single-day record in our three year history in Reno. It’s clear that this week’s auction success is further evidence that Barrett-Jackson remains at the forefront of the American collector car market.”

The top five vehicles sold during the Reno auction include:

  • 1967 Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible – $214,5000 (Lot #617)
  • 1932 Ford B-400 Custom Boyd Convertible – $181,500 (Lot #625)
  • 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Fastback – $154,000 (Lot #637)
  • 1955 Chevrolet Nomad Custom Wagon – $154,000 (Lot #638)
  • 1934 Ford Model A Custom Roadster – $148,500 (Lot #634)

Included in the auction excitement was the 3rd Annual Barrett-Jackson Cup competition offering more than $100,000 in cash in prizes. On Wednesday professional stunt-driver Rhys Millen drifted through the streets of downtown Reno to deliver the Cup trophy in true Barrett-Jackson style. Click here to watch the video.

“The Barrett-Jackson Cup has cemented its importance in custom car building history,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “In just three short years, it has become the pinnacle of respect for the hard work and effort that goes into building these tremendous custom vehicles. We also helped some incredible charitable organizations. I’m grateful that our generous bidders have joined us in making a difference in the lives of countless veterans and youth in our country.”

Barrett-Jackson continued its dedication to organizations that support charitable endeavors and the men and women who have bravely served our country. With five charity lots, Barrett-Jackson raised over $400,000 for deserving organizations including Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Ride 2 Recovery, The Foundation for Exceptional Warriors, High Fives Non-Profit Foundation and Transforming Youth Recovery.

“With an incredible 2015 Reno Tahoe auction already behind us, our sights are focused on growing our momentum for our 8th Annual Las Vegas Auction in September,” said Jackson. “We’re building an exciting docket of vehicles, planning an incredible gala and preparing for another record auction.”

14 DAYS UNTIL SCOTTSDALE: 1969 MUSCLE CARS

This 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is one of more than 140 vehicles from the Ron Pratte Collection crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January.

A true 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 (Lot #2049), this beautiful car has matching date codes, casting numbers and engine numbers. With fewer than 2,000 BOSS 302s produced and built in 1969, and with even fewer having the original engine, transmission and rear end, this Mustang is incredibly rare. As reported on the included original Build Sheet and Elite Marti Report, this BOSS was ordered for a retired Ford Employee exactly as is.

The 1969 Mustang BOSS 302 was built for the Trans Am racing circuit back in 1969 and it competed against the Chevy Camaro Z/28. Both cars had the exact same engine displacement and the exact same horsepower, but the BOSS 302 was not mass-produced like the Z/28. This is an extremely rare example of a real BOSS 302 that is more sought after and desirable while becoming harder to find.

This 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 Fastback (Lot #2049) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

Ron Pratte’s prestigious collection of automobilia will kick off the 44th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction beginning Saturday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. and running through Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. Pratte’s vehicles first cross the block at 4 p.m. on Tuesday with lot numbers 2000 through 2109 and will continue with lot numbers 2500 through 2530 on Saturday, Jan. 17.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

From 1966 through 1972, the original Trans Am series showcased not only some of the best professional road racing ever, but it also spurred the creation of fabulous collector cars like the Ford BOSS Mustang, Plymouth AAR Barracuda, and most memorably, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

Both the Trans Am series and the Z/28 took off in 1969 and Chevrolet dealers sold a remarkable 20,302 Z/28s that year. These Z/28s aren’t street legal racers, but they are about the nearest thing to it.

This ’69 Chevrolet Camarao Z/28 (Lot #2035) has been thoroughly restored by Kent Waters Originals. It comes with voluminous documentation certified by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish, plus photos of the car in 1969 and step-by-step photos of the restoration process. It is finished in authentic and vibrant Rally Green with white racing stripes and a black bucket seat interior. It has a rare NOS Cross-Ram intake manifold, 4.10:1 differential, and many factory options, including Rally Sport trim, rosewood dash inserts, center console with auxiliary gauges and an Endura front bumper.

This ’69 Chevrolet Camarao Z/28 (Lot #2035) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
