  • One of 300, a stunning silver 1955 Mercedes-Benz 3000 SL Gullwing (Lot #5075) will cross the Scottsdale auction block

SCOTTSDALE – Jan. 5, 2015 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car AuctionsTM, will feature a rare docket of exquisite Salon vehicles during its Scottsdale auction Jan. 10-18, 2015, at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Ariz. Among the Salon vehicles is a stunning 1949 Talbot-Lago T-26 Grand Sport (Lot #5087), one of only three Grand Sports built with Franay coachwork.

“This select offering of breathtaking vehicles marks the fourth consecutive year of the Salon Collection at our Scottsdale auction,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “These incredible, timeless vehicles highlight the Barrett-Jackson heritage of great classics and amazing European sports cars.”

The Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport (Lot # 5087), chassis number 110123, is one of eight built on the same short wheelbase chassis used on the Grand Prix cars and one of only three completed by Marius Franay. The T-26 Grand Sport is powered by a race-proven six cylinder, three-carburetor engine producing nearly 200 hp. The car retains its original DOHC 4.5 liter engine and comes with a carefully documented and detailed history, including receipts and pictures of a frame-off concours-level restoration.

A 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS (Lot #5083) will also cross the block in Scottsdale. Only 121 total 6C 1750s were built, with just 30 designated SS, featuring a supercharger. This Alfa Romeo has recently undergone a complete restoration at Automotive Restoration in Stratford, Conn., Today, VIN 0312901 is in concours condition and the chassis has returned to its original state. The chassis and engine are both original and in like-new condition. The Alfa still wears a handmade body dating back to the 1930s and is appropriately outfitted in black.

“The Scottsdale Salon docket is always something the bidders and enthusiasts look forward to in January,” added Salon Collection co-founder, Don Williams. “These vehicles represent some of the most influential moments in automotive history and the best that Barrett-Jackson has to offer. Each one of these vehicles would easily be the crown jewel in any collection.”

One of 300 built for export outside of the U.S., a 1955 Mercedes Benz 300 SL Gullwing (Lot #5075) will cross the Scottsdale auction block. Completed in November 2006, Mario Sueiras, a Guatemalan automotive collector, invested more than 2,000 hours of work into restoring this extraordinary vehicle after sitting untouched in storage for more than 20 years. Still powered by the original matching-numbers engine and driveline, this extraordinarily rare Gullwing is finished in Silver Grey Metallic Glasurit paint and features a blue plaid interior with fitted matching luggage.

Among the most anticipated Salon consignments is an elegant 1927 Isotta Fraschini Lebaron 8A S Dual Cowl (Lot #5081). Much like their competitors Mercedes Benz and FIAT, Isotta Fraschini derived significant development know-now from its racing endeavors. Isotta was the first automaker to fit four-wheel brakes to its production cars as standard equipment and introduced the world’s first production inline eight-cylinder engine at the Paris Salon of 1919. Complete with a freshly reupholstered interior, this 8A SS rivals the finest offerings from marques like Hispano-Suiza, Rolls-Royce or Duesenberg.

Live coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale will be broadcast on Velocity and Discovery during 36 hours of live, high-definition TV coverage from Tuesday through Sunday, Jan. 13-18.

11 DAYS UNTIL SCOTTSDALE: HEMIs

This 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda is one of more than 140 vehicles from the Ron Pratte Collection crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January.

After a complete rotisserie restoration of an original sheet metal ‘Cuda, this HEMI (Lot #2522) has been stored in a climate-controlled museum. During that time, this ‘Cuda was featured in Mopar Magazine and was proclaimed as “The Ultimate HEMI ‘Cuda.”

It is documented with a Broadcast Sheet and decoded by Galen Govier. The attention to detail is unsurpassed in every way. All of the factory production line markings have been authentically reproduced. Even the tension springs inside the brake drums are factory correct.

Other outstanding features include the high-impact B5 Blue paint, Shaker hood, Rally wheels, hockey stick stripe, road lamps, 727 TorqueFlite transmission, AM/FM radio and body “fish gill” rocker moldings. All of the glass, drivetrain and interior are original and matching numbers. With only 368 cars ever produced and only 30,130 original miles, this is likely the most well-known, rarest documented original HEMI ‘Cudas in existence.

This 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda (Lot #2522) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Ron Pratte’s prestigious collection of automobilia will kick off the 44th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction beginning Saturday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. and running through Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. Pratte’s vehicles first cross the block at 4 p.m. on Tuesday with lot numbers 2000 through 2109 and will continue with lot numbers 2500 through 2530 on Saturday, Jan. 17.

December 30 – 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird

This 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird (Lot #2520)is what happens when outrageous horsepower and exotic aerodynamics are blended together in equal but generous portions. Designed to shut up the Ford and Chevy guys once and for all, the HEMI-powered Plymouth Superbird was built, if not destined, to dominate the superspeedways. Chrysler was required to make a certain number of these cars before NASCAR would recognize them as actual production vehicles.

Coincidently, the car remained a thorn in the side of NASCAR officials, and the drivers of other brands, during all of 1970. The Superbird and its Dodge partner won 38 of 48 major NASCAR races that year. This was certainly the most intimidating factory race car to ever grace the big ovals. And that’s exactly what they looked like they were doing at over 200 miles per hour. Superbirds were banned after that one year of stardom for the best reason and the worst reason of all: They https://premier-pharmacy.com/product-category/pain-relief/ were just too darn fast.

The often-quoted build figure is 1,935 and includes those powered by the 440 4 barrel, the 440 Six Pack and the Street HEMI. It is normally agreed that only 135 of these cars were delivered with the 426 HEMI. That puts this particular Superbird at the outer edges of the stratosphere on the desirability scale.

This 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird 2 Door Hardtop (Lot # 2520) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Saturday, Jan. 17.

December 30 – 1971 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda

This 1971 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda (Lot #2519) underwent a complete rotisserie restoration in 2006 with only original and NOS parts were used.

This car has traveled only 16,000 miles in its life. Original matching numbers throughout make it a blue-chip example of one of the most desirable classic muscle cars on earth. And all this from a car that was produced for only two model years. Only three Curious Yellow 1971 HEMI ‘Cudas were ever sold. Two of them were pistol-gripped 4-speeds, and this is one of those.

This 1971 model HEMI Barracuda also happens to represent the only quad-headlight version ever produced by the factory. The authenticity of this breathtaking example has been verified by Mopar guru Galen Govier. Naturally this specimen is listed in his official Chrysler registry.

This 1971 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda 2 Door Hardtop (Lot # 2519) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Saturday, Jan. 17.

December 30 – 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda

This 1970 Plum Crazy Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda (Lot #2026) is the best example of the breed you will ever find. A complete restoration of this unique 4-speed HEMI coupe has returned it to original glory. This matching numbers HEMI ‘Cuda is a magnificent example of the brand flaunting some of the smoothest curves ever applied to a muscle car. Its flat hood, combined with the ultra-classic argent silver shaker scoop, blends with lines over the roof and sides of the car in a way that was practically mesmerizing.

This third-generation Barracuda’s E-body architecture was actually based on a shortened B-body chassis. Its contemporary styling perfectly captured the excitement of the new decade on the horizon. It literally catapulted the Barracuda name from a decent-looking and reasonably quick second-tier pony car to a devastating bulldozer of the competition — all the while flaunting great style, extravagant horsepower and a classy menace.

This 1970 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda 2 Door Hardtop (Lot # 2026) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

This 1954 Kaiser-Darrin is one of more than 140 vehicles from the Ron Pratte Collection crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January.

This beautifully proportioned two-seater was called the Kaiser-Darrin because it came from wealthy industrialist Henry J. Kaiser’s fairly large Kaiser-Frazer Auto Company and was designed by legendary custom coach builder, Howard A. “Dutch” Darrin.

The first true American sports car, the Kaiser-Darrin prototype was introduced even before that of the Corvette and Thunderbird. Always a forward-thinker, Darrin recognized the benefits of fiberglass construction as well as incorporating his patented, sliding “pocket” doors and 3-position convertible top.

Bodies were supplied by Glasspar Boat Company, a pioneer in the use of fiberglass for specialized cars. This is body #208 of only 435 Kaiser-Darrins ever built during its one year of production and is a total, professional rotisserie restoration of an untouched and original car. Every nut, bolt and component was removed and totally rebuilt and restored to like-new condition.

This piece of history features an 80hp, 161cid L-head 6 cylinder Kaiser engine and 3-speed manual overdrive transmission with pocket doors and matching interior and top.

The Blastolene B-702 Custom Roadster is one of more than 140 vehicles from the Ron Pratte Collection crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January.

The one-of-a-kind Blastolene B-702 Custom Roadster (Lot #2507) was designed and constructed in 2007 by the Blastolene team of Michael Leeds and Randy Grubb. Inspired by the great French cars of the 1930s, the Midnight Blue B-702 evokes the dramatic shapes of the “French Curve.” The aerodynamic coachwork of Figoni et Falaschi, creators of the Talbot-Lago Teardrop Coupe, among others, was a particular influence.

With its swooping fenders and submarine-length hood, the Blastolene exudes a powerful presence at 19.5 feet long and 94 inches wide. The hand-formed aluminum body sits on a custom frame, and the entire chassis is nickel-plated or powder coated to a show quality.

The engine is a rarity in itself. The Blastolene is powered by a 702cid GM gasoline V12, an engine produced from 1960-65 for use in GMC medium-duty trucks. Named the “Twin-Six” by GMC, the V12 has a cast iron block topped by four separate cylinder heads and two intake manifolds. With a factory rating of 650 ft/lbs of torque at 850 rpm, the V12 has no problem moving the Blastolene down the road. The V12 is backed by an Allison 4-speed. Out back is a 9-inch Ford Currie rear end.

The Blastolene may be larger than life, but it’s in the details you’ll find the unique custom treasures, such as the cut and beveled glass grille and the hand-blown glass tail lamps. Inside, the driver sits on maroon leather-covered seats and tracks progress via a speedometer cluster from a Lincoln Zephyr.

This 2007 Blastolene B-702 Custom Roadster (Lot #2507) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Saturday, Jan. 17.

14 DAYS UNTIL SCOTTSDALE: 1969 MUSCLE CARS

This 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 is one of more than 140 vehicles from the Ron Pratte Collection crossing the block at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction in January.

A true 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 (Lot #2049), this beautiful car has matching date codes, casting numbers and engine numbers. With fewer than 2,000 BOSS 302s produced and built in 1969, and with even fewer having the original engine, transmission and rear end, this Mustang is incredibly rare. As reported on the included original Build Sheet and Elite Marti Report, this BOSS was ordered for a retired Ford Employee exactly as is.

The 1969 Mustang BOSS 302 was built for the Trans Am racing circuit back in 1969 and it competed against the Chevy Camaro Z/28. Both cars had the exact same engine displacement and the exact same horsepower, but the BOSS 302 was not mass-produced like the Z/28. This is an extremely rare example of a real BOSS 302 that is more sought after and desirable while becoming harder to find.

This 1969 Ford Mustang BOSS 302 Fastback (Lot #2049) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Tuesday, Jan. 13.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

From 1966 through 1972, the original Trans Am series showcased not only some of the best professional road racing ever, but it also spurred the creation of fabulous collector cars like the Ford BOSS Mustang, Plymouth AAR Barracuda, and most memorably, the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.

Both the Trans Am series and the Z/28 took off in 1969 and Chevrolet dealers sold a remarkable 20,302 Z/28s that year. These Z/28s aren’t street legal racers, but they are about the nearest thing to it.

This ’69 Chevrolet Camarao Z/28 (Lot #2035) has been thoroughly restored by Kent Waters Originals. It comes with voluminous documentation certified by Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish, plus photos of the car in 1969 and step-by-step photos of the restoration process. It is finished in authentic and vibrant Rally Green with white racing stripes and a black bucket seat interior. It has a rare NOS Cross-Ram intake manifold, 4.10:1 differential, and many factory options, including Rally Sport trim, rosewood dash inserts, center console with auxiliary gauges and an Endura front bumper.

This ’69 Chevrolet Camarao Z/28 (Lot #2035) will cross the auction block in Scottsdale on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
