One-off coachwork by J.S. Inskip

Mirror-like paint, brilliant brightwork, an absolutely magnificent interior and the imposing P-100’s are among the highlights of this six-light limousine. A lovely example that has benefitted from a frame-off restoration by capable , marque experts. This photo-documented work with receipts, includes a rebuild of the 12-cylinder, aircraft-inspired engine. As reported in an edition of The Motor on October 8, 1935, the Phantom III introduced at the London Motor Show of that year was an entirely new chassis of outstanding interest. Today it’s considered by many enthusiasts to be the finest of the pre-war Phantoms. It was also the last of the great 40/50 horsepower cars with which Sir Henry Royce was directly involved. As an aside, he was Knighted during his tenure working on the P III.

The Phantom III represented a somewhat large technological leap from the widely employed straight-six cylinder engine to the smoother and more refined V-12 layout. The vast experience Rolls-Royce had in producing aircraft engines made this change possible. Other luxury car makers wanting greater refinement and performance were tending towards the simpler V-8 configuration. The road test conducted by The Motor in 1938 enthuses over the car’s comfort and performance: “Docile, yet very fast and powerful: big, yet easy to manage; supremely comfortable, but with exceptional road-holding qualities.” This typifies the Phantom III driving experience. Our Phantom started out life with Windovers coachwork and was delivered new to Cyril O. Smith, a notable English pianist in January of 1937.

The new and presently installed coachwork is the handsome creation of J.S. Inskip and is adorned with some very subtle, scalloped rear wings. In addition, it’s a one-off example crafted in 1937. In the 1970’s, the Inskip body was liberated form a barn in Maryland by the former chairman of the Phantom III society, Bob Shaffner. Mr. Shaffner arranged for the purchase of the new (at the time) Inskip body to Dr. G.W. Beckett of Portland, Texas. Dr. Beckett removed the Windovers body from 3AX163 and installed the Inskip. Mr. Shaffner subsequently purchased the car after Dr. Beckett’s work had been completed. A Phantom III limousine without a divider is indeed, quite rare. The car benefited from a most extensive restoration, including a Robert Jefferson engine rebuild from 1992-1994. In 1994 at the Philadelphia Rolls-Royce Owners Club event, 3AX163 was judged 91.75 points, while taking the Blenheim award. In 2004-2005 she underwent a thorough mechanical and cosmetic refresh and a breathtaking, ALL NEW interior including woodwork by Madera.

This stunning Triple Black 1966 Thunderbird is one of the most coveted T-Birds when it comes to collectors. Formerly of the Cappy Car Collection, this car exemplifies what Jerry Capizzi loved in his cars, perfection. This car went through a complete nut and bolt restoration including all systems and drivetrain. All items are NOS and or numbers matching. The luxurious black finish on the exterior is deep and glossy. No color better presents the lines of this T-Bird and compliments the style of the interior. The Cockpit of this T-Bird was ahead of its time. All the trim, dials, and switches flow throughout the interior. This car is loaded up with options like factory AC, power windows and vent windows, tinted glass, power driver’s seat, reclining passenger seat, leather seating, AM radio with 8-Track, and power antenna.

The 1966 T-Bird had many changes but most notably was the addition of the “Q Code” 428 V8 mated to the 3 speed automatic. This package had 345 Horsepower and 462 foot pounds of torque! This option was checked by numerous buyers in ’66, but only 700 convertibles were made. Of that 700, only 75 were fitted with factory Air Conditioning making this one rare T-Bird!

Driving this car is an absolute pleasure thanks to the proper restoration the car received. The car starts effortlessly and settles into a quiet rumble. Touring with the top down as intended is what this car does best, and it truly does do it best.

A thorough TLD service and inspection has just been performed to make sure that this car meets our strict standards. This ‘66 is one of the finest examples of a Q Code out there today. Diverse Group Of Shelby Mustangs To Cross The Block At No Reserve At Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (November 1, 2012) – The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™ will honor one of the world’s greatest automotive icons, Carroll Shelby, this January when 14 Shelby automobiles that helped define the career of the late designer, racer and entrepreneurial legend are auctioned at No Reserve on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.

Currently, 14 Shelbys are consigned for the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction, ranging from a stellar 1965 GT350 previously owned by Ford, to a 2012 GT500 50th Anniversary Super Snake. In addition, the rarest Shelby Mustang in existence, “The Green Hornet,” will cross the auction block.

“As a lifelong friend of Barrett-Jackson, Carroll Shelby was a regular on the Scottsdale auction block, making this a fitting tribute,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “These Shelbys represent much more than just an addition to someone’s collection. They are a piece of Carroll’s legacy.”

From creating the world-renowned Shelby Cobra and Shelby Mustang to shifting the emphasis of the entire automotive industry from power to a more high-performance approach, Shelby remains one of the most influential automotive figures of all time. Collectors from across the globe are waiting for these vehicles to cross the block.

The following vehicles will cross the block at No Reserve:

Verified by Howard Pardee, SAAC Registrar for 1965/1966 GT350s and fully documented in the 2010 Shelby American Registry.
