SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (November 1, 2012) – The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™ will honor one of the world’s greatest automotive icons, Carroll Shelby, this January when 14 Shelby automobiles that helped define the career of the late designer, racer and entrepreneurial legend are auctioned at No Reserve on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.
Currently, 14 Shelbys are consigned for the 2013 Barrett-Jackson auction, ranging from a stellar 1965 GT350 previously owned by Ford, to a 2012 GT500 50th Anniversary Super Snake. In addition, the rarest Shelby Mustang in existence, “The Green Hornet,” will cross the auction block.
“As a lifelong friend of Barrett-Jackson, Carroll Shelby was a regular on the Scottsdale auction block, making this a fitting tribute,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “These Shelbys represent much more than just an addition to someone’s collection. They are a piece of Carroll’s legacy.”
From creating the world-renowned Shelby Cobra and Shelby Mustang to shifting the emphasis of the entire automotive industry from power to a more high-performance approach, Shelby remains one of the most influential automotive figures of all time. Collectors from across the globe are waiting for these vehicles to cross the block.
The following vehicles will cross the block at No Reserve:
- 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback- This original, unrestored, well documented, low mileage vehicle is one of the lowest mileage Shelbys in existence. Powered by a 428cid V8 with a 4-speed transmission and complete documentation. - 1965 Shelby GT350 Fastback- Highly documented and highly detailed with correct numbers and codes. Verified by Howard Pardee, SAAC Registrar for 1965/1966 GT350s and fully documented in the 2010 Shelby American Registry. Previously owned by Ford Motor Company and used in their Performance Heritage Tour. This is a unique piece of Shelby history.
- 2012 Shelby GT500 50th Anniversary Super Snake- The first of two prototype 50th Anniversary GT500 Super Snakes, this car was used at auto shows, featured in magazines and was a big part of the Shelby American displays during the company’s 50th Anniversary celebration.
- 1968 Shelby GT500 Convertible- This 1968 Shelby GT500 convertible is finished in Wimbledon White with black deluxe interior. It has undergone a rotisserie restoration and is finished in the highest quality. It is one of only a few convertibles ordered with factory air.

- 1969 Shelby GT500 Fastback- This very rare car is the real deal; a 1969 428 Cobra Jet Shelby GT500 with 32,650 actual miles. The coveted Grabber Blue is the original color. This matching numbers vehicle went through a full restoration three years ago.
- 1967 Shelby GT500 Fastback- Finished in dark blue metallic with white racing stripes and the ultra-rare white deluxe interior, this is a great example of Shelby’s desire to produce both beauty and the beast. It has only a little more than 1,000 miles since undergoing a complete restoration.
- 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Fastback- Fresh, original restoration with under 10 miles. Elite Marti Report. This beauty is one of only 125 with a 428 CJ, 4-speed and air conditioning.

This Shelby just received a complete rotisserie restoration, retaining all of its original sheet metal and fiberglass with complete attention to every minor detail and factory marking as if it just rolled off the assembly line.
“These vehicles exemplify the spirit and passion of Carroll Shelby,” said Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. “Owning one of these vehicles will help perpetuate the passion and excitement these cars represent for the next generation.”
