Show-n-Shines offer largest prize pool in history of historic car and nostalgia festival
Reno, Nev. – The 27th annual Hot August Nights is promising to be the best event yet with more than $100,000 guaranteed prize money during its highly popular Show-n-Shines. Cash prizes, trophies and ribbons will be handed out to Hot August participants at a variety of Show-n-Shines throughout the region. In addition to the inaugural and prestigious Barrett-Jackson Cup, which awards $40,000 to five deserving winners and is the largest cash prize in car show history, there are 15 Show-n-Shines happening throughout the region that recognize a wide array of vehicles, from the most luxurious collector cars to well-maintained everyday automobiles. Events include a nightly “Best of Show” at the Atlantis Casino Resort and Grand Sierra Resort and a “People’s Choice Award” at John Ascuaga’s Nugget.
“We’re thrilled to have such tremendous participation from our event and resort partners, event sponsors and the community,” said Tony Marini, executive director of Hot August Nights. “This is our largest prize pool yet and further establishes Hot August Nights as the premier classic car event in the world.”
The festival will be packed with more than 5,000 classic vehicles, hundreds of thousands of attendees, exciting events and adrenaline-filled activities. The Show-n-Shines, which are a beloved tradition of Hot August Nights, begin with the event in Tahoe South Aug. 2-3 and in Reno and Sparks Aug. 6-11.

This stunning 356 Super 90 Roadster was the receiptient of a nut and bolt restoration. The Ruby Red exterior and flawless cloth top are in like new condition. The contrasting black leather seats, carpeting, and instruments are all in exceptional condition too. Additionaly equipped with a new custom Tonneau cover and the extremely rare original Les Leston Wood Steering Wheel.
The rare Super 90 engine package featured light-alloy cylinders, a lighter flywheel, stiffer valve springs, light-alloy rockers, larger-diameter main bearings, a unique oil pickup system that allowed the engine to draw lubricant from the sump’s full side in hard cornering, topped off with two Solex Carburetors. This was the most potent 2 cam power package available in '61.
Dropping the top and getting on your way is a breeze in this roadster. You can button down the Tonneau cover or keep it open for a companion. Turn over the motor and enjoy the throttle response, as well as shifts, which are smooth and crisp. This car was built to be driven and begs to do so.
