BARRETT-JACKSON PARTNERS WITH CESSNA, KANSAS AIRCRAFT AND OKOBOJI CLASSIC CARS

BARRETT-JACKSON PARTNERS WITH CESSNA, KANSAS AIRCRAFT AND OKOBOJI CLASSIC CARS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (Jan. 17, 2014)Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, announced today that a unique part of United States military history will cross the auction block and that these charitable lots will benefit veterans at the 43rd Annual Scottsdale Auction, Jan. 12-19, 2014. A Cessna liaison plane and a Dodge Utility vehicle will be auctioned to benefit the Armed Forces Foundation and their ongoing efforts to assist active-duty and retired military personnel. “Barrett-Jackson takes pride in our long history of charitable efforts,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Yet any time where the vehicles crossing the block benefit the men and women of our armed forces that is a special day at Barrett-Jackson.”

One unique offering at Scottsdale consists of two lots, sold as one package; Lot #3008 and #3008.1 are a part of military history, including a restored Cessna ’59 L-19 Bird Dog liaison plane and ’58 Dodge M37 Utility vehicle. The 1959 model L-19E Bird Dog is being donated by Cessna Aircraft Company with special thanks to experts at Kansas Aircraft Corporation, who are responsible for sourcing the plane. Cessna, Kansas Aircraft Corporation and Okoboji Classic Cars partnered to bring a restored L-19 Bird Dog and Dodge M37 truck to the 2014 Barrett-Jackson auction.

Cessna’s L-19 Bird Dog, a liaison and observation plane that entered service in 1951, was known to be “worth its weight in gold” for its artillery spotting, medevac operations and search and rescue missions, the L19 Bird was renowned for its maneuverability and performance while on the front line. Praised by pilots for its dependability in life-and-death situations, the L-19 Bird Dog was soon incorporated into the arsenal of other military branches at home and abroad.

In addition, a 1958 Dodge M37 three-quarter pickup truck restored and donated by Okoboji Classic Cars of West Okoboji, Iowa, a Cessna customer will also be included in the auction. The M37, used extensively by the United States Military as a utility vehicle, was known for its solid performance and field reliability. Together this duo is an impressive piece of both military and aviation history that will not only add substantial interest to any collection, but will also honor the work of one of our country’s most respected veteran’s organizations.

“My family and I are extremely thankful to AFF, Barrett-Jackson, Cessna and Okoboji for the opportunity to help raise awareness and support for veterans like myself who suffer from PTSD,” said Gunnery Sergeant Sam Deeds. “It’s not just the veteran who needs support, but the family of the veteran as well. With the funds raised at the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction Scottsdale and the donations made, AFF can provide the support needed for veterans and their families. It’s time to support those who defend our freedoms; please help save our troops.”

The proceeds https://buytramadolbest.com/ambien.html from the auction will benefit The Armed Forces Foundation which offers vital assistance to active-duty and retired military personnel, National Guard, Reserve Components and military families. This includes direct financial assistance, therapeutic recreational and outreach programs, hospital dinners and national education initiatives. With the launch of our Help Save Our Troops campaign, the AFF proactively educates Americans about the hidden wounds of war, including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and advocates for those troops and veterans who have suffered these hidden wounds.

“Lot #3008 and 3008.1, a restored Cessna ’59 L-19 Bird Dog liaison plane and ’59 Dodge M37 Utility vehicle, are important lots in this auction. First because of their pedigrees and, more important, because of the charitable impact these lots will have. These lots simultaneously help The Armed Forces Foundation and allow the owner to acquire a significant piece of U.S. military history,” said Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. “The Barrett-Jackson team appreciates any opportunity we have to help assist and support the men and women who have served our country.”

1955 Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead

Price: $439,900
Stock: C397
Mileage: 35000
VIN: VP6J384
Exterior Color: Blue
Interior Color: Red
ASTON MARTIN DB2/4

1955 DROPHEAD LML829

VANTAGE ENGINE VB6J/384

Between 1953 and 1955 there were a total of 73 dropheads produced. In 1955 only 12 of these were equipped with Vantage engines and left hand drive. These two factors make this beautifully restored Aston Martin a rare find.

The restoration began with a search and discovery of original documents associated with the vehicle. The work was conducted only after verification of originality could be established. Many hours were spent obtaining invaluable information from Kevin Kay. When parts were required Kevin Kay was the supplier. Only then was the restoration performed, 200 miles ago.
The original livery colors of ice blue with oxblood leather are as specified on the factory build sheet. The leather interior is top of the line and makes a strong impression The contrasting dark blue top is of a sta-fast fabric and compliments this very desirable color scheme.

All original gauges are in good working order and the wood dash has been very nicely refinished. The clock reads 35,000 miles but the true mileage is not known. The original radio has been rebuilt and the under dash speaker surround has been restored. The side window glass is original and in nice condition--only the windscreen has been replaced. The distinctive DB2 grill, with it's individually polished vanes, is in amazingly nice original condition. The remainder of the exterior chrome including the bumpers, has been re-chromed. New Vredestein tires were mounted on new 72 spoke, 16 inch chrome wire wheels. Accompanying the car is the original jack and most tools.

Early David Brown Astons are not known for even body gaps and shut lines. That said, this car shows well in both fit and finish. Final clean and detail work was performed by The Last Detail punctuating this restoration with an outstanding visual presentation.

On the road, the factory optional original matching numbers Vantage engine has a distinctive and impressive sound--thanks to the high lift cams. This engine has been comprhensively rebuilt. The gearbox is a non synchronized unit. First gear has the typical David Brown gear whine until all other gearSare selected. The original rebuilt generator replaced with a modern alternator, is included. The engine compartment is very correct, clean and well presented.

Early Aston Martins were a rare sight in 1955 and purchased by owners of note. This car no. 829 was no exception. According to the heritage paper, the original owner was one R.W. Cooper of Washington D.C. Mr. Cooper's address at the time of purchase was the Anchorage Hotel_ Also, at this address were Bobby Kennedy. Tallulah Bankhead, Sam Rayburn, and Charles Lindberg. After Mr. Cooper only three other owners were found.

The DB2 Vantage Drophead is a true classic affording a rare opportunity to acquire an important limited production early Aston.

GENE SIMMONS, BILLY BALDWIN TEAM UP WITH CRAIG JACKSON’S BARRETT-JACKSON TO MAKE CHARITABLE AUCTION HISTORY
2014 Continues Decades of Philanthropic Support, Help for Those in Need

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (Jan. 8 , 2013) – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, has a big heart since holding its first auction in 1971. Barrett-Jackson has worked to provide a platform for consignors and charitable causes to align and raise funds. In January at the company’s 43rd Annual Scottsdale Auction, Jan. 12-19, held at the all-new facility at Westworld of Scottsdale, that tradition continues with many unique offerings set to cross the block.

At the opening gala, January 13th, Billy Baldwin will host a special bid opportunity for an ultimate 2015 Super Bowl package with all proceeds benefiting his charity, the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund. That same evening, a 1987 Oldsmobile Firenza Warren, Johnson’s NHRA Pro Stock Race car, will be auctioned with all proceeds benefiting the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. Gene Simmons will also participate on Friday January 17th by auctioning off a 1956 Ford F-100 Custom Shelby truck with all proceeds benefitting The Children’s Hospital Foundation of Saskatchewan Foundation.

“Barrett-Jackson has a strong legacy of working with individuals and the causes and organizations that they choose to support. Through our auction platform and waived fees, 100% of the funds bid in a charitable auction flow directly to the cause, maximizing the benefit,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Those benefits, over our history, amount to more than $60 million raised for charitable causes. It is one of the most fulfilling aspects of the work we do.”

Barrett-Jackson works with both philanthropic and charitable organizations, as well as their friends, who come forward with a vehicle or package to consign. Barrett-Jackson utilizes its marketing expertise to create awareness and to package the lot into the auction before proceeding to the block. Barrett-Jackson waives its fees and allows the cause to achieve a huge, cost-free, cash influx.

Other charitable organizations that will benefit from Barrett-Jackson’s fundraising in Scottsdale in January include Make-A-Wish, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, TGEN Foundation, SEMA Cares, Childhelp and Victory Junction, Cox Charities, The NASCAR Foundation, Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, Ikan, The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Cornerstone Schools.

“I personally have taken a huge interest in Lot #3008 and 3008.1, which includes a restored Cessna ’59 L-19 Bird Dog liaison plane and ’59 Dodge M37 Utility vehicle. To me, the opportunity to simultaneously help The Armed Forces Foundation and own a significant piece of U.S. military history is unprecedented,” said Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. “The team here at Barrett-Jackson gets a special lift out of the impact our auctions have on charities across the country and how we have been able to help so many causes from children to veterans to life-threatening conditions. It makes each auction special.”
