Palm Beach, Fla. – April 17, 2007 – The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company announced that the 2007 Palm Beach Collector Car Event raised more than $500,000 for various local and national charities. The 5th annual South Florida auction was held from March 28 – April 1, 2007, and featured nearly 600 of the world’s finest collector cars. Barrett-Jackson, who does not charge buyer and seller fees on charity vehicles, has raised nearly $6 million for various charities in 2007.
Highlighting the charity cars was the new Ford Shelby GT-H convertible, which sold for $250,000 and benefited the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The car, which was hidden during the first days of the auction, was uncovered on the block to reveal automotive icon Carroll Shelby in the passenger’s seat.
“Mr. Shelby really got the crowd going when he stepped out of the new GT-H Convertible,” said Craig Jackson, CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. “He’s a true humanitarian whose foundation has benefited children throughout the country. Supporting charities at Barrett-Jackson is as important as the cars, and we look forward to returning to Palm Beach next year to raise even more money.”
Dedicated to prevent, provide for and ultimately cure spinal cord injuries and other debilitating illnesses, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation was also well supported in Palm Beach, highlighted by a 2006 Cadillac CTS that sold for $60,000. Barrett-Jackson matched the winning bid on the Cadillac and additional donations were made by auctioneers and crowd members. Before the Cadillac crossed the block, three-year-old Lana Rubin received the pink wheelchair of her dreams from the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. The foundation also benefited from the sale of a 2007 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale poster signed by all the celebrities at the Scottsdale event, which went for $20,000.
“When Lana received her new wheelchair and the crowd went crazy with extra donations, it was one of the most memorable moments I’ve experienced at a Barrett-Jackson event,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Darrell Gwynn and his organization have made some special presentations at our events, but this one may have topped them all.”
The Opening Night Gala was held on Wednesday, March 28, and raised nearly $30,000 for various charities. The Motorsports Hall of Fame also benefited from the sale of a classic 1939 Chevrolet custom 2-door sedan nicknamed, “Elliot,” sold by Jennifer Revson, sister of racing legend Peter Revson. In addition, portions of the proceeds of several other stunning vehicles went to a group of worthwhile charities.
“Barrett-Jackson is committed to giving car collectors the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate individuals across the country,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Thanks to the support of our loyal customers and world-class media outlets like SPEED, we’re able to reach out to these organizations and make them a dynamic part of our Scottsdale and Palm Beach events.”

Palm Beach, Fla. – April 3, 2007 – Close to 65,000 people attended the 5th Annual Barrett-Jackson Auction at the South Florida Expo Center in Palm Beach, Fla., where the market prices for nearly 600 collector cars were steady over the five day automotive lifestyle event. Much of the bidding of over US$32,000,000 worth of cars (including fees), centered on a diverse field of entry level vehicles among the superb classics, sports cars, hot rods and rare muscle cars. Television coverage was provided by SPEED throughout the event and all vehicles were sold at No Reserve. High profile cars included a new Foose Coupe, the first Shelby GT-H convertible and several rare, vintage Corvettes.
“This year, we made a decision to offer more entry level and midrange collector cars at our Palm Beach collector car event, which attracted our biggest crowds and created some exciting bidding,” said Craig Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. “The prices seemed in line with the quality of vehicles on the docket. Rare, documented superb cars brought high bids while less exotic vehicles attracted prices in line with their provenance, condition and rarity. And when compared to similar grade vehicles sold last year, prices are definitely in line.”
The Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach event featured a diverse group of vendors, two major auto manufacturer showcases, auto test drives and several simulators. A gala was held during the week for bidders and VIPs that benefited the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, the auction’s charitable beneficiaries. Early estimates indicate that over $500,000 was raised for charity.
“For those who like to compare results in an effort to spot trends, the results provide an interesting and positive picture of this hobby,” noted Barrett-Jackson president Steve Davis. “Attendance was up dramatically as many new people and families join the hobby. The Palm Beach docket reflected an eclectic offering with many surprises as the bargains and home runs were determined by the eager bidders that packed the auction arena.”
An impressive selection of vintage Corvettes, Street Rods, Muscle Cars, Classic and European Sports Cars were sold on the auction block as celebrities such as Carroll Shelby and Mark Fields of Ford Motor Company watched. Even SPEED commentator Mike Joy got caught up in the bidding action as he successfully bid on a muscular 1971 Ford Torino Coupe. In addition, the first Shelby GT-H convertible was unveiled on-stage, and then sold for $250,000, while the first Foose Coupe available to the public sold for $330,000.
“Two vintage Corvettes purchased by individuals at our 2007 Scottsdale event sold at Palm Beach for more than they fetched in January,” added Jackson. “And several people who bought cars here in Florida last year sold them again on the block after enjoying the vehicles all year; many channeled their proceeds into another new car at the auction. Some made money and others saw the expense as a wonderful experience along the lines of golfing at Pebble Beach or competing at a vintage race. Contemporary collectors are more interested in enjoying their cars than the values, as long as they pay a fair market price for the vehicle of their dreams.”

Palm Beach, Fla. – April 3, 2007 - A growing number of families were among the thousands of automotive enthusiasts from across the country that gathered at the 5th Annual Barrett-Jackson Auction on the grounds of the South Florida Expo Center in Palm Beach, Fla. Of the almost 65,000 people that attended the five day automotive lifestyle event, many were multi-generational families.
“Americans are passing on their passion for car collecting from generation to generation,” said Steve Davis, president of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. “One of the most fascinating trends we noticed this year was the amazing number of families who have experienced our automotive lifestyle events in person and on SPEED, and decided to attend our 2007 Palm Beach auction. They’re enjoying this hobby together and much of their lives revolve around collector car activities.”
For the Horton family from Waterford, Mich., the event has helped fuse a special relationship between three generations. After attending two Scottsdale auctions and purchasing seven Barrett-Jackson cars in January, Laurence Horton decided to bring his son, Scott, and grandson, Devon, to the 2007 Palm Beach event, where they bought four vehicles.
“I became a car “freak” at the age of 16, known for driving the fastest car in Detroit. When I got married at 21, we had 5 children and then I started my company, so the car hobby took a back seat,” said Laurence Horton, also known affectionately as “Grumpy”. “Barrett-Jackson has helped me to rekindle my passion and share it with two of the most important people in my life, my son Scott and grandson Devon. We have a great collection of cars and we enjoy driving every single one of them.”
Larry and Scott decided to share their love of classic cars with Devon this year in Palm Beach, who is very proud of “his” car, which the family bought during Thursday’s auction. The 1955 custom Chevrolet Bel Air 2-door hardtop is a perfect match for another classic Chevy already in the Hortons’ garage.
“We bought the Bel Air to match body lines and lights of our 1956 Chevy Nomad,” said nine-year-old Devon, who already has encyclopedic knowledge of classic cars. These cars are definitely the best in our collection.”
The highlight of young Devon’s week was when Craig Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, handed him a Barrett-Jackson 35th Anniversary coffee table book signed by Carroll Shelby, the executive team at Barrett-Jackson and all of the auctioneers including the infamous auctioneer duo, “Spanky & Amy”.
The Horton’s were not always able to spend quality time attending automotive events and collecting cars together. Larry started one of the big three plastic injection molding companies in 1973. Scott has worked at the company since he was 15 and became the president in 1990, when Larry retired. Working grueling hours together for so many years was not easy on their relationship, but car collecting has given them a bond and a chance to involve Devon in the hobby.
“This week in Palm Beach has given us time to not only choose from the world’s best collector cars, but share this experience as a family,” added Scott. “My father and I worked together for many years and found it hard to spend valuable time together. We began collecting four years ago and the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company has made us a stronger family ever since. We will definitely be back.”

Palm Beach, Fla. – April 1, 2007 - Record crowds watched as some of the world’s finest collector cars sold at No Reserve, including the first Ford Shelby GT-H convertible and the first Foose Coupe available to the public, at the South Florida Expo Center during the third day of the 5th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Palm Beach, Fla. The two cars were among the highlights at the automotive lifestyle event, which featured a diverse field of muscle cars, hot rods, vintage sports cars, great classics and customs.
“The atmosphere was electric as over 50,000 people in the car collector community gathered to celebrate the hobby over the past three days,” said Craig Jackson, CEO of Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. “We’re offering over 600 of the most desirable vehicles in the world on display, surrounded by premium vendors with everything from jets to test drives in the hottest new models. At the end of each day, people drive off in the ultimate souvenir, the collector car of their dreams.”
Carroll Shelby and Mark Fields unveiled the new Ford Shelby GT-H “Rent-A-Racer” from Ford Motor Company, Shelby Automobiles and The Hertz Corporation. Hidden during the first days of the auction, Shelby and Fields were on the auction block as the hot convertible crossed so it could be introduced live on SPEED. The first of approximately 500 Shelby-modified Ford Mustang GT-H convertibles, the car fetched $250,000 and proceeds of the sale benefited charity; a matching Fender guitar was included with the Shelby. It was the first time that Ford had launched a new car outside of a major car show, the first time a vehicle was introduced at the Barrett-Jackson Auction and the first time a car was unveiled and sold the same day.
“The Ford Shelby GT-H was so much fun to drive that people literally begged us for more, which is why we created a convertible version of the car,” said Carroll Shelby, CEO of Shelby Automobiles, Inc. “It was fun to unveil it with my friends at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. It’s even more special as proceeds from the sale of this car will benefit so many children through the Carroll Shelby Children’s Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.”
Other highlights included the sale of several big block vintage Corvettes, a stunning 1957 Bel Air convertible, a rare 1969 Shelby GT500 and a spectacular 1988 Rolls-Royce Corniche II convertible. The diverse field included an exclusive 2003 Panoz Esperante, an eccentric 1966 Amphicar 770 and a sporty 1959 Morgan Plus 4 roadster.
A buyer paid $330,000 for the rights to the Foose Coupe, which includes a private session with Chip Foose to choose colors and options. The mid-engined coupe is powered by a Mopar Hemi V8 engine, capable of an estimated 550 horsepower and 520 pounds of torque. All Foose Coupes will be constructed by MetalCrafters, Inc. and available through Unique Performance.
“We also had a wonderful moment just before a specially designed Cadillac CTS Sport Sedan that once belonged to Sir Paul McCartney was sold with proceeds benefiting the Darrell Gwynn Foundation,” added Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. The Cadillac’s sun visor was also given a special touch with autographs by Jay Leno, Tony Bennett and Sir Paul McCartney himself.
“Darrell personally delivered a pink wheelchair to three year old Lana Rubin on the stage,” said Davis. “That gift was made possible through the kindness of enthusiasts and it was moving to see the generosity of the people who are part of this hobby. And when the Cadillac sold, Barrett-Jackson matched the $60,000 winning bid, totaling $120,000 to the charity.”

Palm Beach, Fla. – March 30, 2007 – A diverse collection of the world’s rarest collector cars attracted a crowd of both seasoned and first time bidders to the South Florida Expo Center for day two of the 5th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Palm Beach, Fla. New bidders accounted for 52 percent of the buyers during weekday action, demonstrating the many new faces that are coming into the thriving hobby. The action will continue this weekend as the world’s most exclusive collector automobiles cross the block at No Reserve, with SPEED capturing live footage today from 12 noon to 8 p.m.
“It’s great to see so many new faces join long-time collectors to soak up the excitement at this year’s Palm Beach Barrett-Jackson automotive lifestyle event,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “There were so many more people the first day that we had to bring in additional stadium style seating to accommodate the crowds.”
During the wee hours of the night, the Barrett-Jackson team redesigned the primary auction hall to seat more people. This included adding 800 more seats for the next three days to accommodate the many people who will bid or watch the cars cross the block at No Reserve.
“Our dynamic field of collector cars attracted many people who are interested in being part of this hobby,” added Davis. “Whether it’s a major player looking to add a few cars to his stable or a first-time bidder trying to snag a bargain, this year’s lineup covers all aspects of the market. From a 1958 Messerschmitt KR-200 convertible to a pristine 1968 RR/SS Camaro, the field of vehicles was extremely diverse and impressive.”
The Messerschmitt KR-200 is a descendant of Messerschmitt AG, a legendary airplane manufacturer that shifted to automobiles after World War II. The quirky, three wheeled vehicle has a 200cc engine with a 4-speed transmission and sold for $27,500. Fetching an impressive $110,000, the classic Camaro RR/SS Convertible has a 396ci/325 horsepower V8 along with power steering, power brakes, power windows, tilt wheel, power antenna and power top. Both sale prices include buyer premiums.
Barrett-Jackson continually reaffirms its leadership position in the collector car market by elevating consignment standards, challenging annual records and serving as the barometer for market trends. Last year, more than 275,000 attendees and millions of television viewers from around the world witnessed over 1,600 cars being auctioned off for approximately $135 million at the two 2006 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Events held in Scottsdale, Ariz., and Palm Beach, Fla.

-Younger purchaser profile marks a new trend in custom car collectors-
-The Amphicar makes an unusual return during auction’s opening day-
PALM BEACH, Fla., March 29, 2007 - The opening day of the 5th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event saw record attendance figures as more than 80 special interest automobiles were sold, at No Reserve, in front of a packed house, broadcast on television among an audience of avid enthusiasts.
SPEED broadcast for more than three hours on the auction block as Craig Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, introduced the afternoon session that saw a diverse mix of collector vehicles go under the hammer.
The first day of the year’s most prestige Palm Beach collector car event marked a new purchasing trend as seasoned collectors rubbed shoulders with a younger, emerging demographic. Tony Cesario, 24, of Phoenix, Ariz., waits anxiously alongside his metallic blue, custom-built Chevrolet truck in Lane 3 as he poses for pictures.
“I’ve spent over $50,000 on renovating this vehicle, and it’s my first time on the auction block,” he says nervously. “Twenty minutes later and after an intense bidding war, Tony comes out grinning from ear-to-ear and with his arms wrapped around his closest friend.”
“I’m psyched about the result. I don’t believe it. I didn’t expect it to go for $32,000!” His prize possession gets sold, according to an auctioneer, to a veteran collector. The first day also saw a number of vehicles, owned by older collectors, go to an up-and-coming younger generation of buyer.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more successful opening day,” said Craig Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “The entire nation witnessed on television some of the world’s best kept automobiles sell for significant five figure sums. This is just the start of what will be one of our most exciting auctions ever with some of the most rare and desirable vehicles being sold. We’re delighted to see a younger breed of collectors emerging at our annual Palm Beach event.”
The highlight of the opening day was centered on one of the most unusual types of vehicles, increasingly becoming more popular as a collector’s item. After owning and renovating his car for more than 15 months, Larry Fisette, 66, of Depere, Wisc. auctioned his red and white custom-built Amphicar as one of the last vehicles of the day. The buyer, Roger Sallee, an early retiree from Loake Ozark, Missouri, and an avid collector of the Amphicar, purchased the pristine1968 Amphicar 770 convertible for a satisfying $82,500, including buyer’s premium.
“Barrett-Jackson always brings the best vehicles to us collectors, which is why I come back each and every year,” smiled Sallee. “I might be raising my hand on the next Amphicar being auctioned on Saturday,” he added.
Ironically Fisette and Sallee are not complete strangers. Fisette met Sallee on eBay six months prior when he sold his first Amphicar for around $60,000. This time they decided to do business through Barrett-Jackson.

Palm Beach, Fla. – March 28, 2007 – Palm Beach became a hotbed of automotive passion as Craig Jackson and Steve Davis of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company hosted a private tour and sneak peak of the event on Wednesday evening for select South Florida media and VIPs at the 5th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Palm Beach, Fla. Renowned designer Chip Foose and executives from Metalcrafters and Unique Performance, the dynamic team behind the Foose Coupe, joined Jackson and Davis to highlight the auction’s premier vehicles and discussed their love of collectible automobiles. Over 600 of the world’s finest collector cars will cross the block at No Reserve from Thursday, March 29 – Sunday, April 1, 2007, in Palm Beach, Fla.
“South Florida has become the East Coast epicenter for world-class automobile collectors, which has validated our commitment to bring in and offer the most diverse group of vehicles ever in South Florida,” said Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “We’re offering something for everyone, from hardcore muscle car gurus and sports cars fans to those searching for the ultimate hot rod like the Foose Coupe. Chip has become the leader in automotive innovation and making dream cars a reality.”
The Foose Coupe, which is built by Metalcrafters and available through Unique Performance, was unveiled to the Palm Beach audience shortly after the tour at the Opening Night Gala. Rights to the first production model available to the public of the hot rod muscle car combination will be auctioned on Saturday evening.
“I created the Foose Coupe because people said you could not combine the elements of a hot rod, sports car and muscle car in one vehicle,” explained Foose. “The response to this car proves that it could be done and that there is a market hungry for a new hot rod. I’m thankful that Barrett-Jackson has given us the opportunity to showcase the Foose Coupe and share my dream car with their customers. The Barrett-Jackson auction is truly a one-of-a-kind event, and we’re thrilled to be part of the action.
Along with hot collector cars, Barrett-Jackson will feature something for everyone. More than 1,000 VIPs enjoyed live entertainment by renowned singer Valeria Tyson while dining on food from Dave’s Good Ole Boys BBQ, Rachel’s Steakhouse, Legal Seafood, Blue Martini and Professional Concessions, Inc. Barrett-Jackson also displayed an impressive array of live auction items, such as a Cal Ripkin Jr. autographed baseball bat and ball, Superbowl XLII tickets, an Ultimate NASCAR Experience and a rare Peter Max art piece. All donations will benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation and the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children, (A John Walsh Charity). Last year (2006) Barrett-Jackson Auction Company donated more than $744,000 through their charity auction.
“Automobiles will always be the nucleus of this event, but we offer a plethora of non-auction activities for the whole family,” added Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Guest can enjoy test drives with some of America’s hottest new GM & Ford models, tours of a private jet fuselage, access to a myriad of automotive parts and accessories, food and entertainment.”

SCOTTSDALE , Ariz. – January 23, 2007 – The Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, LLC announced today that the 2007 Scottsdale auction raised more than $4 million for charity, far surpassing last year’s record of $2.5 million.
By the end of the nine-day event, charity efforts at Barrett-Jackson raised a total of $4,168,500 for local and national charities. Local efforts were kicked off on Saturday, Jan. 13 with the annual Childhelp® Drive the Dream Gala which raised $1.5 million in one evening.
“Childhelp is Barrett-Jackson’s primary charitable beneficiary as we host the Drive the Dream Gala each year to help them raise funds for their very noble cause,” said Craig Jackson, CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “Once Barrett-Jackson began auctioning off cars, we were able to raise an additional $2.5 million for a variety of deserving charities.”
One of the biggest donations of the auction was the sale of the 1993 Hummer H1 “CNN’s Warrior One” that fetched $1 million with proceeds going directly to The Fisher House, an organization that provides “a home away from home” enabling American military families to be close to a loved one during hospitalization from injury or illness. A runner-up bidder for the Hummer announced before the hammer dropped that although he was not the winning bidder he would also donate $250,000 to the Fisher House.
One of the automobile industry’s greatest legends, Carroll Shelby, was on-site to see the first 2007 Ford Shelby GT Mustang Fastback (serial #001) sell for $600,000 with all the proceeds going to The Carroll Shelby’s Children’s Foundation. Not only did the bidder get the first car to come off the production line, by placing the highest bid Ford Motor Company entitled the purchaser the right to buy serial #002 at list price.
The proceeds from sale of Lot 1232.1, a 1957 Chevrolet Cameo Pickup for $145,000 and Lot 1556.1, a 1990 Chevrolet Custom Pickup for $57,000 went to the Darrell Gwynn Foundation (DGF). DGF is a charity which assists in the funding of research of spinal cord injuries and the improvement in the quality of life for those who, like the famous race car driver, have suffered from this injury or illness. The foundation is also committed to injury prevention with special emphasis on targeting children. In total, $317,000 was raised for DGF, including a signed poster for $40,000 and crowd donations that reached $75,000 .
Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation also benefited from the sale of a 1932 Ford Custom Roadster “Detroit Deuce” which sold for $300,000 with all the proceeds going to the foundation.
Barrett-Jackson provides a very visible platform to raise money for charity,” said Steve Davis , president of Barrett-Jackson. “That platform is part of the Barrett-Jackson experience that is so special and impactful. We are proud to utilize this high-profile platform to bring awareness to these deserving charities.”

More than 250,000 people attended the nine-day event including bidders from all 50 states and 14 countries. In only six days, Barrett-Jackson’s website had 127.5 million hits.

Collectors spent nearly US$112,000,000 at the 36th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event in Scottsdale, Ariz., from Monday, January 15 – 21, 2007. Continued, strong demand made the event the most successful collector car auction in American history as bidders snapped up 1,271 total cars sold at No Reserve, as well as rock and pop culture memorabilia in spite of a soggy WestWorld facility. “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Event™” attracted over 250,000 visitors and was featured on SPEED with 40 hours of live coverage during 2007.
“The collector car hobby continues to grow and demand was exceptionally strong for a variety of vehicles ranging from vintage Shelbys to superb customs, top notch muscle cars, obscure makes and even timeless Woodies,” said Craig Jackson, CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “And as our team predicted, collectors rediscovered the ‘golden era of fins’ as they pushed the values of many 1950s classics to over $100,000. The spectacular vehicles sold this week were some of the most desirable automobiles in the world and the prices they fetched demonstrated the incredible strength of the market.”
The highlight of the auction was the sale of Carroll Shelby’s 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra for a world record $5,500,000, including buyer’s premium. The “Warrior One” Hummer that was “overhauled” by Chip Foose following a CNN tour of duty in Iraq hit $1,000,000. Proceeds from the sale of the CNN Hummer were donated to The Fisher House Foundation, which builds “comfort homes” for families of hospitalized military personnel; bidder Dave Ressler donated another $250,000 to the charity during the bidding.
“In addition to Shelby’s Cobra and the CNN Hummer topping the million dollar mark, two 1954 Dodge Firearrow convertible ‘Dream’ cars hit $1,100,000 each,” explained Steve Davis, President of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “Another Shelby Cobra knocked on the door by selling for $935,000 and we broke records for cars like the stunning Boss 429 Mustang that sold for $605,000.”
Barrett-Jackson continues to set the standard for the collector car market by elevating consignment standards, challenging records and serving as the barometer for market trends. The selection of cars this year was the broadest ever in the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s rich history, ranging from a vintage stagecoach to an Amphicar, a Russian rescue craft, 1950′s classics, contemporary cars and exotics. Results from the week uncovered interesting new trends that will be analyzed by collectors worldwide
“One of the key trends is that the number of new bidders continues to be very strong,” added Jackson. “Many of these buyers aren’t afraid to buy something a bit offbeat like a Kaiser Henry, De Soto Firesweep or Pro Stock Chevy Vega race car. For traditional collectors, B-Body Chryslers and HEMI’s continue to command premium prices, Shelbys of every year are in demand and the custom, resto-mods are still hot. Austin Healeys increased in value and the rarest Corvettes are still very good purchases.”
The auction is a lifestyle event, featuring fashion shows and a pavilion where patrons were pampered with spa treatments, shopped for high-end jewelry and clothing and had access to some of Arizona’s most prestigious resort communities. Two evening galas were held during the week; one for bidders and VIPs and another benefiting Childhelp, the auction’s charitable beneficiary. For the first time, a rock-n-roll memorabilia auction was added to the week long event. This mixture of automobiles and lifestyle also attracted a host of new sponsors including General Motors and Ford Motor Company; the first 2007 Shelby GT was sold at the auction for $660,000 and several GM show cars crossed the block.
“We selected an amazing diversity of vehicles to offer this year, including contemporary icons like the first Shelby GT and recent GM show cars,” noted Davis. “Then we wove quality ‘driver’ cars into the docket of vintage muscle cars, customs and classics. This presentation of all makes, models, years and levels of cars makes it possible for even more people to enjoy car collecting. The world responded to our approach and the resulting strong sales in Scottsdale shows the market for car collecting is very, very healthy.”
