SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – January 14, 2008 – Beneath clear skies yesterday at WestWorld in Scottsdale, Ariz., the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company welcomed 37,802 visitors to the 3rd Annual Family Value Day, marking a 15 percent increase in attendance from Family Value Day in 2007. The record crowd was treated to a surprise demonstration from Robosaurus, the car-crunching, fire-breathing mechanical dinosaur that annihilated an unassuming vehicle at the Ford Motor Company display. Additional highlights included free admission for all service men and women, police officers and firefighters as well as a sneak peek at more than 1,100 of the world’s finest collector cars, which will begin crossing the Barrett-Jackson auction block at No Reserve tomorrow at 2 p.m.

“Families and car enthusiasts from across the country came together to help kick off another stellar Barrett-Jackson auction,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “In only its third year, Family Value Day has become one of the most anticipated and action-packed days of the auction week. Barrett-Jackson’s dynamic entertainment venue, “The Garage,” was a crowd favorite as Scottsdale clothing boutique, Urban Kidz, highlighted the hottest styles of 2008 with a kids fashion show.

The action continues today with more sunny skies in the forecast and a 1 p.m. feeding for Robosaurus. Tonight, the automotive industry’s hottest celebrities and top executives will gather under the main auction tent for the Opening Night Gala.

Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction To Reignite The “Detroit 3″ Muscle Car Wars

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – January 11, 2008 - The “Detroit 3″ automakers will unleash their biggest weapons in a bid for high-octane supremacy at the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company’s 37th Annual Collector Car Event on Jan. 12-20, 2008, in Scottsdale, Ariz. General Motors, Ford and Chrysler will each auction their most powerful, most prestigious new performance car for charity during the “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Events™” on Saturday, Jan. 19. The first 2009 Corvette ZR-1, 2008 Dodge Challenger and a one-off 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR will be offered at No Reserve along with over 1100 of the world’s top collector vehicles. SPEED will broadcast live during all six auction days.

“These American automakers chose the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction to launch their most important cars because we offer the ultimate stage to engage the most passionate consumers,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “Our events have become the epicenter of the automotive lifestyle world, attracting manufacturers ranging from the domestic giants to high profile automakers like Bentley, Honda and Mercedes.”

The vehicles poised to launch the most heated muscle car battle since the late 1960s are the 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 badge No. 1 (Lot #1331), the “First Retail Order Produced” 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1 (Lot #1316) and a special one-of-one 2008 Ford Shelby GT500KR (Lot #1300). The Challenger’s winning bid will benefit Not My Kid, Inc., the Shelby’s proceeds will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the proceeds from the Corvette sale will go to United Way.

“The rebirth of the Challenger and GT500KR, as well as the spectacular new ZR-1 mark the beginning of a glorious new muscle car era,” noted Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “People will be able to say ‘I was there’ at Barrett-Jackson when America’s modern muscle car era began. While only three people will take home an incredible piece of history, anyone who attends this celebration of the automobile will share in a very special milestone. Thanks to our partners at GM, Ford and Chrysler, we’ll give these cars the ultimate welcome party and raise money for three worthy charities.”

One of the most anticipated cars in history, Chevrolet will auction the “First Retail Order Produced” Corvette ZR-1. The stunning blue Corvette will cross the Barrett-Jackson block on Saturday, Jan. 19, just one week after a silver ZR1 is debuted at the GM Style event on Jan. 12 in Detroit. The new Corvette ZR1 features a six speed manual transmission, carbon fiber body components and a 620 horsepower supercharged V8. The most capable factory Corvette ever built, it easily surpasses the performance of the legendary L88/L89 big block cars from the 1960s.

“We’re pleased to offer the ultimate American dream car at Barrett-Jackson, the ultimate American collector car event,” said Ed Peper, Chevrolet General Manager. “This association is very positive for both companies and offers us an opportunity to reach the most passionate auto enthusiasts in the world. Best of all, we’ll be able to raise money for United Way, which makes the sale of the ZR1 even more meaningful.”

Ford Motor Company and Shelby Automobiles have partnered to bring back the Ford Shelby GT500KR. The 540-horsepower “King of the Road” pony car is based on the most powerful factory-built Mustang ever produced. This one-of-a-kind ebony GT500KR features a glass roof that will be offered on the 2009 Mustang and racing stripes that continue over the roof; the stripes are etched directly into the glass roof. Carroll Shelby is scheduled to be on stage to hand the car keys to its new owner.

“The Shelby GT500KR will make its auction debut in what promises to be a lifetime worth of bidding, collecting and coveting at 2008 Barrett-Jackson,” stated Robert Parker, car marketing manager for Ford Motor Company. “Approximately 1,000 total 2008 coupes are scheduled to be built at Shelby’s facility in Las Vegas and arrive in dealerships this summer. We’re very proud of this car and that proceeds from this auction will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, whose mission is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research.”

The all-new 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 will make its worldwide debut at the Chicago Auto Show on Feb. 6, 2008. Chrysler chose to sell the first production Limited Edition 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 to come off the assembly line at the Barrett-Jackson Auction. The No. 1 Challenger includes a 6.1 Liter HEMI V8 engine, 5-speed automatic transmission with AutoStick, sunroof and navigation system. It will be identified by a dash plaque indicating No. 1 of the Limited Edition production.

In addition to receiving the rights to the first production Challenger, the winning bidder will receive two VIP passes to the May 2008 Dodge Challenger 500 NASCAR race at Darlington Raceway complete with airfare and lodging, and a meet and greet with Kyle Petty. The vehicle will be delivered to the Dodge Dealer of choice in the United States no later than May 31, 2008.

Barrett-Jackson Auction Company Announces Settlement Of Defamation Suit

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – January 9, 2008 – Officials with the Barrett-Jackson Auction Co. LLC, today announced that a settlement was reached on Jan. 7, 2008, in a suit filed against David L. Clabuesch in U.S. District Court in Arizona. In the settlement, https://pharmacy-no-rx.net/amoxicillin_generic.html Clabuesch exonerated the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company of all allegations of wrongdoing in relation to a situation that occurred at the company’s Scottsdale event in January 2007. Details of the financial terms of the settlement were not disclosed.

“We’re pleased to have reached a successful resolution and to put this matter behind us,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “While we regretted having to take the extreme step of filing a lawsuit in this matter, we had no choice but to aggressively defend our integrity and the fairness of our company’s business practices. This action was necessary to protect not only our own interests, but also those of the thousands of bidders and consignors who place their trust in us each year.”

The lawsuit arose from circumstances surrounding the sale of Clabuesch’s vehicle at Barrett-Jackson’s January 2007 Scottsdale auction. Unhappy with the price paid for the vehicle, Clabuesch locked and chained the tires after it was sold, and attempted to prevent delivery to the new owner. Clabuesch also posted numerous signs in and around the vehicle expressing his opinions about Barrett-Jackson and the company’s auction practices. Visible in one of the most high traffic areas of the auction site until removed by the company’s security officer and local police, the signs were viewed by the company’s customers and members of the public attending the event. Shortly after the January 2007 incident, the company was faced with responding to numerous defamatory rumors and untrue statements related to the Clabuesch incident, which were published on various Web sites, blogs and online chat rooms.

A settlement was mediated on Jan. 7, 2008, by former Superior Court judge Rebecca Albrecht. In connection with the settlement, Clabuesch issued a written, notarized statement that reads:

“Upon review of auction video footage and further consideration of the relevant facts, I, David L. Clabuesch, have concluded that with respect to the January 20, 2007, auction of my vehicle – a 1970 Plymouth Hemi-Cuda – conducted by Barrett-Jackson that I can no longer pursue any action alleging auction irregularities, including the claim that the car was short hammered while on the block. I have also determined that there was no relationship between Barrett-Jackson and the buyer of my vehicle, nor was there any conspiracy between Barrett-Jackson and the buyer of my vehicle, or any other person, to short hammer the sale of the car. I no longer believe that Barrett-Jackson violated the terms of the consignment agreement in conducting the auction sale or otherwise breached any duties to me as a consignor.”

Davis concluded, “On the brink of the most exciting automotive lifestyle event in our history, we’ve demonstrated that Barrett-Jackson upholds the most ethical business practices in the collector car auction industry and that we will take the steps necessary to defend those practices when we are compelled to do so.”

Clabuesch et al, US District Court for the District of Arizona, Case No. CV07-561-PHX-EHC can be obtained by contacting the clerk of the U.S. District Court in Phoenix or at www.azd.uscourts.gov. Barrett-Jackson To Offer Motorsports History, Icons And Star Power At 2008 Scottsdale Auction

Richard Childress Racing to Sell Intimidating ’69 Camaro Series 3 Coupe

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – January 2, 2008 - In what will be the ultimate fusion of automotive passion and racing history, the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company will auction several prominent motorsports vehicles at No Reserve during the 37th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event on Jan. 12-20, 2008, in Scottsdale, Ariz. Highlighting the pavement-pounding group of racers will be “The Intimidator,” a Richard Childress Racing (RCR) 1969 Series 3 Camaro limited edition vehicle (Lot #1303) that honors the accomplishments of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Sr. and his bond with RCR.

Joining the Series 3 Camaro will be a 1987 NHRA Pro Stock Oldsmobile Firenza from famous drag racer Warren Johnson (Lot #1295) and a 2005 Ford Mustang FR500C (Lot #1288) driven by “Grey’s Anatomy” star Patrick Dempsey. Hailed as “The World’s Greatest Collector Car Events™,” the Scottsdale auction will feature over 1100 of the world’s finest collector vehicles and lavish lifestyle events. As always, SPEED will broadcast live-coverage of all six auction days.

“There are only a few things in life I enjoy more than restoring classic automobiles, and one is racing them,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman/CEO of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company. “In Scottsdale, we will auction several exceptional vehicles with significant racing pedigree and inspiration. From Warren’s pro-stock, to a smooth ’69 Camaro from the garage of one of NASCAR’s most successful teams, we’ve got horsepower and star power to satisfy racing fans across the board.”

To pay homage to the No. 3 Chevrolet made famous by Dale Earnhardt Sr., Richard Childress Racing joined forces with Total Performance Inc. to build the ’69 Series 3 Camaro. The car crossing the block in Scottsdale will be Serial No. 3 and the only one with the official title of “The Intimidator”; only 50 total Series 3 Camaros will be built. The black, red and silver muscle car commemorates the dynamic relationship forged between RCR and Earnhardt, as well as the no-nonsense, hard-working attitude that defined this special team.

This RCR Series 3 Camaro comes with two powerful engines. One is a 525 horsepower, all-aluminum, 427ci engine built by Keith Craft Motorsports. The 525 horsepower engine will allow the owner to enjoy the Series 3 on the street. The alternate engine is a powerhouse SB-2, 603 horsepower unit tuned at the RCR engine shop and used in the No. 3 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet driven by Earnhardt in the 2000 Daytona 500.

“This Series 3 Camaro will be the only car equipped with ‘The Intimidator’ badging, making it a one-off collectible that is perfect for NASCAR fanatics who also like to drive their collector cars,” said Brook Phillips, President of Total Performance, Inc.

Drag racing enthusiasts will want to be near the Barrett-Jackson block when the Warren Johnson 1987 Oldsmobile Firenza crosses. A historic part of Johnson’s NHRA Pro Stock racing career, the Firenza sparked a successful relationship between Johnson and General Motors Corporation, which continues today. The Firenza is restored with a genuine Warren Johnson 500ci first-design DRCE 1000-plus horsepower V8 engine, correct drivetrain and all original chassis components. Johnson will drive the car on stage, autograph the rear wing and pose for pictures with the new owner at the auction.

Patrick Dempsey, who stars as Dr. Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd on ABC’s hit series “Grey’s Anatomy,” is scheduled to be on stage when his No. 156 2005 Ford Mustang FR500C is sold for charity. Dempsey drove the car in the 2007 Grand-Am KONI Challenge series for Hyper Sport Racing, which he co-owns. The Mustang contains a 5.0 liter, Cammer R50 engine and has earned seven poles, 10 wins, 92 top ten finishes and 25 podium appearances since 2005. The winning bidder will also receive a helmet, gloves, shoes, hero card and a DVD box set of the third season of “Grey’s Anatomy” signed by Dempsey, as well as a track day with Hyper Sport Racing and a day for two at the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School.

“The energy and passion felt during a Barrett-Jackson auction can only be compared with the excitement generated by a motorsports event,” added Steve Davis, President of Barrett-Jackson. “Racing associations have cultivated America’s obsession with automobiles for years, creating a thriving market for these special vehicles within the collector car world.”
