SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Aug. 25, 2015Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions®, announced today that QuikSilver, the world’s ultimate custom truck, will cross the block during the Barrett-Jackson 45th Anniversary Auction at WestWorld of Scottsdale, Jan. 23-31, 2016. The award-winning custom truck has amassed countless prestigious awards, trouncing car-based creations that typically dominate the hot rod hobby. QuikSilver took top prize with Best of Show during the 2014 Barrett-Jackson Cup Championship in Reno, Nevada.

“QuikSilver will definitely turn heads at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “The experienced builder and hot rodder will recognize that few builds have this level of detail and craftsmanship. From the simple precision of the tailgate latch to the hand-stitched interior, this truck represents some of the finest coach-building ever seen. QuikSilver will make a wonderful centerpiece of a collection anywhere in the world.”

The ’57 Chevy pickup was extensively customized over a period of five years by Hot Rod Garage in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Under the hood is a 540 big block Chevy engine with an estimated 650 horsepower. The engine is fed by a Crower 8-stack intake converted to electronic fuel injection with FAST XFI and is mated to a Gearstar 4L60E automatic transmission. Inside the truck, the dash has been reshaped and fitted with a one-off gauge cluster, gauges, steering wheel, and gas and brake pedals. The bench seat, console, door panels and headliner were designed and handmade by Chuck Rowland using 10 hides of smooth and perforated burgundy Mercedes leather.

“Historically, custom trucks haven’t seen the same level of attention as their counterpart cars,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “That’s why it was exciting to see QuikSilver take top prize in Reno during our Barrett-Jackson Cup competition. I believe it set a high standard for custom vehicles across the industry and sent the message that trucks are serious contenders in custom competitions.”

In addition to the 2014 Barrett-Jackson Cup Best of Show championship win in Reno, QuikSilver was in the Great 8 at the 2013 Detroit Autorama and was also named Goodguys Truck of the Year in 2013. The custom truck was a huge star at SEMA 2013 in Las Vegas, driving away with the Mother’s Choice Award, among others.

“Barrett-Jackson is the only place I could imagine selling QuikSilver,” said Alan Beers, QuikSilver owner. “It is simply the best auction house in the world. The bidders really appreciate all kinds of vehicles, including custom trucks. Award-winning vehicles like mine typically attract maximum attention.”

QuikSilver was on display at the Barrett-Jackson Reno Tahoe auction and served as the centerpiece of the 2015 Barrett-Jackson Cup finalists. The outstanding pickup will also be exhibited at the Las Vegas auction (Sept. 24-26, 2015) and the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, November 3-6, 2015.
