Barrett-Jackson helps raise over $2.2 million for charity during the 6th Annual Las Vegas Auction

Las Vegas, NV. October 3, 2013Barrett-Jackson The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™ announced today that it helped raise over $2.2 million for local and national charities during the 6th annual Las Vegas auction at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino Sept. 26-28, 2013, bringing the total amount the company has raised to date to over $57 million.  Funds at the automotive lifestyle event were gathered through the sale of five collector vehicles, crowd donations and an emotional reunion with Siegfried & Roy that helped benefit their charity, The SARMOTI Foundation. One hundred percent of all proceeds raised by Barrett-Jackson go directly to the charity.

Barrett-Jackson kicked off its charity auctions on Thursday afternoon with a special military tribute and the sale of Lot #3000, a 2012 Shelby GT500 “Super Snake” which brought $500,000, with all proceeds benefiting Wounded Warriors Family Support. The sale was accompanied by a special live performance on the auction block from multi-platinum country star Clay Walker, who sang his hit “All American.”

The auction company was also honored to have legendary Las Vegas icons Siegfried & Roy on the auction block to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of their final performance.  Barrett-Jackson kicked off the tribute with a donation to Siegfried & Roy’s SARMOTI foundation, and then invited others in the audience to donate, which ended with a combined total of $95,000 that was raised. The SARMOTI Foundation protects endangered and threatened animals and also supports the Las Vegas Metro K-9 unit.

“Charity fundraising has always been a cornerstone of our events,” said Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson.  “We are honored to have had celebrity icons such as Siegfried and Roy as well as Clay Walker on the auction block in Las Vegas to help raise money for the military, the Las Vegas Metro K-9 Unit and endangered animals.  The contributions of our sponsors, bidders, consignors and fans are second to none as we look ahead to our Scottsdale event in January.”

Other memorable philanthropic highlights included Lot #3001 1957 Lincoln Continental Mark II as it inspired the weekend’s highest bid of $700,000, benefiting Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.  Lot #3003 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Penske Racing No. 2 Dodge Charger driven by Brad Keselowski fetched $500,000 for The NASCAR Foundation.  Ford Motor Company also took part in the charity excitement by auctioning Lot #3004 2014 Ford Mustang Cobra Jet to help The Multiple Sclerosis Society, bringing $200,000. The sale of Lot #3002 2008 Ford Mustang Saleen Fastback supported The Austin Hatcher Foundation by raising $180,000.

“When our customers see a good cause needing support, the atmosphere in the auction arena is magical. Barrett-Jackson is devoted to increasing awareness of these charities by offering a platform for raising funds with the sale of these amazing vehicles,” added Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “It‘s inspiring to see how people can come together and share a common vision to help these organizations. We believe in supporting worthy organizations and the $57 million in charitable contributions to date is a testament to that philosophy.”
