Barrett-Jackson Fever Sweeps Southwest With Big Winners In Scottsdale And Las Vegas

Scottsdale, Ariz. – January 17, 2009 – The action at the Barrett-Jackson Auction is heating up in the desert and the winners are taking home hundreds of the world’s top collector cars. A 2008 Barrett-Jackson limited edition Ford GT was won at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in the past few days and sales have been steady this week at the 38th annual auction in Scottsdale, Ariz. The “World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™” will continue through tomorrow as over 1,000 collector vehicles are sold at No Reserve. SPEED will broadcast nearly 40 hours of live, high-definition coverage.

“Barrett-Jackson offers an unparalleled experience where some winners walk away with the ultimate souvenir, a collector car,” explained Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “From the fantastic cars crossing the block at No Reserve in Scottsdale to the slots of Las Vegas, we give everyone an opportunity to either watch the fun or be part of the action.”

With the great weather, great buzz, a great consignment from General Motors and a big crowd for The Garage’s Fleur’t Fashion Show and 944 party, Barrett-Jackson is on pace for another fantastic event. Vehicles started crossing auction block on Tuesday and will continue through Sunday.

One of the cars scheduled to be sold is a limited edition Barrett-Jackson Ford Shelby GT Mustang (Lot #1563). The car was collaboration between Ford Motor Company, Barrett-Jackson Auction Company and Shelby Automobiles, to create collector car history with the Limited Edition 2008 Shelby GT. A total of only 100 models, in both coupe and convertible body styles, were sold only through Arizona Ford dealers.

On January 11, one of the rare Barrett-Jackson edition muscle Shelbys was won by Arthur Romero in Las Vegas. The Amarillo, Texas resident hit one of the Barrett-Jackson branded slot jackpots at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. Their branded slot machines were developed as joint effort between Mandalay Bay and Barrett-Jackson that displayed symbols on the slot reel which offered a number of the various automobiles presented during the October 2008 Las Vegas auction at the Events Center.

“From world class muscle cars to great classics, concept cars and hot rods, celebrities, activities and vendors, Barrett-Jackson is the epicenter of car collecting hobby,” noted Davis. “If you’re hungry for incredible excitement, great buys, celebrity watching and hot cars, we bring it all together for an experience like no other.”
