LAS VEGAS – Sept. 18, 2014 – Barrett-Jackson, The World’s Greatest Collector Car AuctionsTM, announced today that the largest number of consigned vehicles in the history of its Las Vegas Auction are set to cross the block Sept. 25 – 27 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center. The predominantly No Reserve auction will feature more than 700 collector vehicles, including American muscle, high performance and European luxury, as well as a full docket of hot rods and customs. Live coverage of the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Las Vegas will be broadcast on the FOX family of networks and National Geographic during the channel’s 23 hours of live, high-definition TV coverage on Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 25 – 27.
“Las Vegas is one of our most exciting and anticipated auction destinations of the year,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “The city represents the same level of high-octane energy that people have come to expect from our auctions. And with a record number of cars set to cross the block at Mandalay Bay, this year promises to be bigger and better than ever before.”
As “The City of Lights,” Las Vegas will serve as the perfect backdrop for featured celebrity vehicles up for auction. Among the most anticipated celebrity consignments are Johnny Cash’s ’70 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow (Lot #766) and the ’63 Chevrolet Corvette Split Window Coupe (Lot #769.1) made famous in the 1964 musical film “Viva Las Vegas.” Also set to be auctioned at No Reserve is what is referred to as Elvis and Pricilla Presley’s “Honeymoon Car,” a ’67 Cadillac Coupe De Ville (Lot #767), and a 2013 Lamborghini Aventador 2-Door Coupe (Lot #454).
“This year’s auction is shaping up to be our largest and most exciting auction in Las Vegas,” added Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “Just like the Las Vegas casinos, from high rollers to slot machines, our electrifying and diverse docket of muscle cars to late-model exotics offers something for everyone.”
American auto manufacturers Chrysler, Ford Motor Company and Chevrolet will also contribute to the energy at Barrett-Jackson with vehicles donated to benefit local and national charities. The sale of one-of-one special edition 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (Lot #3004), the fastest and most powerful muscle car ever, will benefit the not-for-profit Opportunity Village organization of Las Vegas. The last production unit of the 50 Years Limited Edition Ford Mustang, carrying badge No. 1964 (Lot #3003), will benefit Get Your Heart Racing, a fundraising event supporting Henry Ford Health System’s Edith and Benson Ford Heart & Vascular Institute. The highly coveted, first new retail production Corvette Stingray VIN 001 (Lot #3001), with an 8-speed automatic transmission, will cross the block with proceeds benefitting the CARE House of Oakland County.
