1971 Chevrolet Camaro Rumbles into Mecum Auction

The Mecum Auction at the Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Illinois on October 3-5 is where a special 1971 Chevrolet Camaro will be sold. This car is a great example of a pony car-based Resto-Mod that combines awesome performance, show-quality looks and solid reliability. This is a well-documented two-owner car with only 54,000 original miles.

This Camaro has a 565 cubic-inch Chevy Dart Big Block generating an estimated 650 horsepower and 700 foot-pounds of torque. Fuel is delivered through a polished Tarantula-style intake to high-volume Brodie heads. All 650 horses are delivered via a 6-speed manual transmission and a Ford 9 inch rear-end. It stops with Wildwood four-wheel discs and hydro boost power brake system – what goes has to stop! The car’s paint is perfect, a complete and detailed body preparation preceded the application of a custom Blue Pearle paint mix and finished with Performance White Pearle stripes. The car was then finished with multiple coats of clear. Numerous other features make this a real winner at both shows and outings.

The interior is completely updated with soft black leather seats, power windows, power remote door locks, factory air conditioning and Auto Meter gauges. Sound was not overlooked and the car has a state of the art Kenwood system with all the goodies. All this work was accomplished by noted restoration experts Performance restorations in Mundelein, Illinois and has been rewarded with two “Gold Bow Tie Boulevard” awards, the “Diamond” award for Best of Show First Time Shown Camaro and the “Top Gun” Judges Choice Award for Best Camaro. This is truly and outstanding example of a very popular automobile. For more details on this car, visit the Mecum website.
