After a high school night job recapping tires and years of owning a service station, Safro began a used-car business in 1962 called Jack Safro’s Pewaukee Motors. In 1970, he moved the business to Brookfield as Jack Safro Toyota and then opened Jack Safro Ford-Lincoln-Mercury in Oconomowoc in 1989, Lexus of Brookfield in 1989, Lexus North Shore in 2001 and Infiniti North Shore in 2005.
“The Jack Safro Estate contains the many unique Toyotas that reflect his close relationship with the Japanese automaker that spanned four decades,” said Dana Mecum, president, Mecum Auction. “We are excited to add this special car collection to our amazing lineup at the Original Spring Classic.”
The Original Spring Classic Auction will be broadcast live on Mecum’s popular television series, “Mecum Auto Auction: Muscle Cars & More” on HD Theater – Discovery Communications’ first 24-hour high-definition cable network, offering compelling real-world and motorized content. The show will highlight many of the Spring Classic’s 1,250 cars to be offered for sale. The auction, held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, is open to the general public with tickets available at the door for $10.
