Mecum’s Annual Spring Classic Brings Indy Race Cars, Classic Muscle & Motorcycles

Race fans and car enthusiasts visiting Indianapolis in search of all things automotive this May can look no further than the Mecum Original Spring Classic Auction - a six-day event boasting more than 2,000 vehicles for sale, which spectators can check out for just $15 a day at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

President Dana Mecum, a lifelong racing enthusiast, is bringing the world's largest collector car auction back to Indianapolis May 17-22, 2011 for the 24th consecutive year, giving car collectors and automotive enthusiasts alike an action-packed event to enjoy. The auction will feature former Indy race cars, classic muscle, desirable motorcycles and thousands of pieces of automotive memorabilia, including gas pumps, oil petroliana, and rare porcelain and neon signs.

Among the racers being offered is a 1971 Foyt Coyote Indianapolis 500 race car driven by A.J. Foyt, as well as former Indy pace cars, NASCARs and dragsters. Dana Mecum's passion for vintage race cars runs deep. He is a former racer in the IMSA Firestone Firehawk https://www.buyambienmed.com racing series. He also serves as president of the Harry A. Miller Club, which is dedicated to preserving former Indy 500 race cars. Mecum himself owns a collection of open wheeled American race cars, the crown jewel of which is the fastest qualifying car of 1935: the Gilmore Special Miller, which was the first car to break the 120 MPH average lap speed barrier.

If you can't make it to the fairgrounds for live auction action, the Mecum Spring Classic event is broadcast live on Discovery Communications' HD Theater show "Mecum Auto Auction: Muscle Cars & More."
