Chevy Big-Blocks Dominate Mecum Top Sales in Kansas City
A 2012 Mercedes-Benz S600 took top sales honors at the Mecum Spring Kansas City Auction while high horsepower Corvettes, Camaros and Restomods saw heavy bidding action subsequently dominating top ten sales at the Kansas City Convention Center in Bartle Hall.
Total gross sales for the 3-day auction achieved more than $8.9 million and saw an impressive number of spectators taking in all the action. Consignment Director, Frank Mecum commented, “The level of quality consignments continues rise at our regional spring sale in Downtown KC, and with a 30% increase over last year it’s certainly starting to show.”
Mecum offered a variety of Corvettes, muscle cars, classics, and exotics and achieved an impressive 68% sell-through rate. The Kansas City Spring 2012 Top 10 Sales (all sales reflect hammer prices) were:

2. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 427/435 HP (S98) at $120,000
3. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Conv. 427/435 HP (S131) at $100,000
4. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro 427 Restomod (S170) at $89,000
5. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible 427/390 HP (S66) at $77,500
6. 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS Z28 (S118) at $65,000
7. 1947 Dodge WDX Pickup (S147) at $65,000
8. 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Pro Touring (S85) at $60,000
9. 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 427/400 HP (S86) at $60,000
10. 2007 Chevrolet Kodiak Custom (S207) at $60,000
