Great Sales For Mecum’s Gone Farmin’ Nashville Vintage Tractor Auction
Mecum’s inaugural Gone Farmin’ Nashville vintage tractor auction held this past Friday and Saturday was host to nearly 150 vintage tractors and more than 350 signs and farm relics, all of which were offered for sale throughout the two-day event. The sell-through rate reached an unprecedented 88 percent with 127 tractors hammering sold. Total sales for the auction reached $1.32 million which was an outstanding success for the auction house’s first Nashville auction.
The auction was headlined by several collections, including the Jim and Beverly Vaden Collection dubbed the “G Collection” as it contained a full “set” of John Deere G models; nine of the 11 hammered sold. Two of the G models made the top 10 sales list, including the 1953 John Deere GH (Lot S22) that took the number one seat at $53,000. As one of just 235 built, the tractor had been completely restored by Brian Overall of Midwest Tractor and Plow in 2013 and came complete with its Two-Cylinder Production records. The Robert and Kay Bagby Collection, all offered at no reserve, was another auction highlight that included a complete John Deere 30 series of eight tractors. The couple’s 1960 John Deere 330 (Lot S91) gaveled for $23,250 taking the fifth seat in the top sales list.
Other significant sales include a John Deere 40 H, All Fuel (Lot S38) that grabbed a $32,000 sale price. The desirable tractor had undergone a nut and bolt restoration and featured a new motor; two-cylinder paperwork was also included in the sale. Landing third in top sales, a 1972 John Deere 4020 (S93) Power Shift from the Threet Farms Collection hammered at $26,000.
