SCOTTSDALE, AZ. – June 29, 2011 – Barrett-Jackson Auction Company, The World’s Greatest Collector Car Auctions™, announced today that nearly $14 million in gross sales of Customs, Classics, Hot Rods, Resto-Mods and original collector vehicles was generated at its 2nd Annual Orange County auction which was held at the OC Fair & Event Center June 24-26. The three-day lifestyle event was attended by approximately 60,000 automobile enthusiasts and featured over 300 vehicles.

The 2nd Annual Orange County auction once again attracted new buyers as well as consignors and purchasing was up by both in-person and internet bidders. The 2011 event brought 63% new bidders, as well as 60% new consignors and 48% of all the vehicles were purchased by new bidders. Barrett- Jackson Auction Company also saw their internet sales double from last year’s Orange County auction.

“In the past year this event has grown exponentially. We brought out a portion of the renowned Scottsdale Auction tent which is nearly two football fields in length to accommodate our Southern California customers and fans.  Record breaking attendance as well as an increase in new bidders and consignors led to a very successful auction,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO, Barrett-Jackson. “The excitement and growth is sure to carry over to our next auction, which will be held in Las Vegas in September.”

Highlights from the Barrett-Jackson event in Orange County included appearances by several high profile celebrities including skateboarding legend Tony Hawk, top Olympian Bruce Jenner with his son Brandon Jenner, reality TV star Scott Disick, Legendary racecar driver Parnelli Jones and Van Halen’s Michael Anthony.

Barrett-Jackson was pleased to accept a California State Resolution recognizing the organization for its support of Yellow Ribbon America, a non-profit organization that unites America in giving direct help and support to our nation’s military and their families in their local communities. In addition to being recognized by the State of California, Barrett Jackson was also recognized by Yellow Ribbon America with a special award.

Barrett-Jackson also helped to raise over $850,000 for local and national charitable organizations.  All fees and commissions were waived on charity vehicles, encouraging auction participants to maximize their bids.  Charities involved in this year’s auction included The Austin Hatcher Foundation for Pediatric Cancer, Cell Phones for Soldiers, The Center for Living Peace and The Tony Hawk Foundation, The Darrell Gwynn Foundation, The Foundation for Blind Children, Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital, Special Olympics Southern California, and the Surfing Heritage Foundation.

“Southern California is the third stop of the four events planned for our 40th Anniversary tour. This area is extremely important to us because so many residents are car enthusiasts,” said Steve Davis, President, Barrett-Jackson.  “This year’s Orange County event brought many exciting moments, which we know will be matched during our final stop in Las Vegas in the fall.”

Barrett-Jackson is currently accepting consignment requests and bidder applications for the 2011 Las Vegas Auction scheduled September 22-24.
